Uit het journal: “The recent work Roy Villevoye has been showing, occasioned by his travels to Papua New Guinea, resonates much more emphatically than before with the reciprocity of his contact with the Asmat people. Villevoye visited the Indonesian province for the first time in 1992 and, since then, the impact of his sojourns in the former Dutch colony has become increasingly determinative for Villevoye’s perception of his own identity, Western European culture 1 and of that of the Asmat whom he has developed very close ties with.”
